American Cockroaches

American Cockroaches, Brown-Banded Cockroaches, German Cockroaches, Oriental Cockroaches, Smokey Brown Cockroaches

The American cockroach is a large, reddish-brown cockroach. It is about three to four inches long, and can fly when disturbed or threatened. They tend to hide in dark, moist places during the day and come out at night to feed.

An infestation of American cockroaches can be harmful to your family’s health, as they are known for spreading various diseases and allergens.

Additionally, their pungent odor can be difficult to get rid of. The presence of these pests also creates an unpleasant living environment for your family.

Brown-Banded Cockroaches

Characteristics of the brown-banded cockroach include its small size (about 5/8 inch long when fully grown), light-brown to mahogany coloring, two lighter-colored bands across its wings, and two stripes on its abdomen. The brown-banded cockroach is often found in warm, dry areas of the home such as behind picture frames or in closets, as well as in furniture like couches and dressers.

An infestation of brown-banded cockroaches can affect your family's health by creating an unhealthy environment due to their fecal material and shed skins which contain allergens that can trigger asthma or cause allergic reactions. Additionally, these roaches are known carriers of certain bacteria and viruses which can be transferred to food or surfaces within the home, causing contamination and potential illness.

German Cockroaches

German Cockroaches are one of the most common types of cockroach found in homes. They can be a major problem as they reproduce quickly and often hide in difficult-to-reach places.

In a clean home, they can contaminate food and cause allergies or asthma attacks. In addition, they can spread bacteria throughout the home, since they crawl through sewage and garbage before making their way indoors.

German Cockroaches also produce an unpleasant odor that can linger long after the infestation has been cleared. Furthermore, their presence can be a source of embarrassment for homeowners who are attempting to keep their residence clean.

Oriental Cockroaches

Oriental cockroaches, also known as water bugs, are an invasive species of roach found in most parts of the world. They are dark brown to black in color and have a shiny body that reflects light.

Oriental cockroaches typically measure around 1 to 1.5 inches long, with females being slightly larger than males. These pests prefer moist, protected environments such as sewers, drains and basements as they are attracted to decaying organic matter and garbage.

Oriental cockroaches feed on a variety of food items but especially like sweets and starches. In addition to being an annoyance due to their presence and their foul odor, these roaches may contaminate food sources and spread bacteria which can cause diseases such as salmonella.

Smokey Brown Cockroaches

Smokey Brown Cockroaches are a species of cockroach that are found throughout the United States.

They are reddish-brown in color and can grow up to 3 inches long. They prefer warm and humid climates, so they often inhabit homes and businesses in the South and Midwest.

The Smokey Brown cockroach is an omnivore, meaning it will feed on plants, insects, and other organic matter, which makes them difficult to control with traditional pesticides. They can reproduce quickly, laying up to 60 eggs at a time and living for over a year. In order to manage these pests, proper sanitation is key – removing sources of food and water for them to survive on.
